Publication Ethics

Selcuk University expects all stakeholders to bear the following ethical rules and responsibilities during the publication process implemented in the Journal of Social Sciences Institute. These responsibilities are based on the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1- Authorship
-The article should be sent to only one journal in accordance with publication ethics and should be original.
-Publication principles and bibliography should be complete.
- Plagiarism and fake data should not be included.

Actions against research and publication ethics are as follows:
a) Plagiarism: Presenting the ideas, methods, data, practices, writings, figures or works of others as their own work, in whole or in part, without attribution in accordance with scientific rules,
b) Fraud: To produce data that is not based on research, to edit or change the presented or published work on the basis of untrue data, to report or publish them, to present a research that has not been done as if it has been done,
c) Distortion: To falsify research records and obtained data, to present methods, devices and materials that are not used in the research as if they were used, not to evaluate the data that are not suitable for the research hypothesis, to manipulate the data and/or results in order to fit the relevant theory or assumptions, falsifying or shaping research results in their own interests,
ç) Republishing: To present more than one work containing the same results of a research as separate works in the evaluations of associate professorship exams and academic promotions,
d) Slicing: Presenting the results of a research as separate works in the evaluations of associate professorship exams and academic promotions by dividing the results of a research in a way that violates the integrity of the research, inappropriately, and by making multiple publications without reference to each other,
e) Unfair authorship: Including people who do not have an active contribution among the authors, not including those who contribute actively among the authors, changing the order of authors unjustifiably and inappropriately, removing the names of those who contributed actively from the work at the time of publication or in the next editions, to include his name among the authors,
f) Other types of ethical violations: Not expressing the supporting people, institutions or organizations and their contributions in the research in the publications of the supported research, not complying with the ethical rules in research on humans and animals, not respecting the rights of the patients in their publications, to share the information contained in the work with others before it is published, to misuse the resources, places, facilities and devices provided or reserved for scientific research, to accuse completely baseless, groundless and deliberate ethical violations (YÖK Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive, Article 8).

2-Author's Responsibilities
All authors must contribute significantly to the research.
- All data in the article must be declared as true and original.
-All authors have to provide retraction and correction of errors.
- The articles to be published in the journal must comply with the spelling and grammar rules. Authors are obliged to provide all kinds of corrections to the text, taking into account the opinions and suggestions requested in the Editorial and Referee reports.

3-Responsibilities of Referees
Evaluations should be impartial.
-Referees should not have a conflict of interest with the research, authors and/or research funders.
- Referees should indicate the relevant published but not cited works.
-Checked articles should be kept confidential.

4-Editorial Responsibilities
-The Journal Editorial Board has the right to request changes in content and form from the owner of the work, if it deems necessary.
-Editors have full responsibility and authority to accept or reject an article.
-Editors should not have a conflict of interest regarding the accepted or rejected articles.
-Only articles that will contribute to the field should be accepted.
- Support the release or withdrawal of the fix when bugs are found.
-Referees should keep their names confidential and prevent plagiarism/fake data.
-While the article is in the refereeing process, the editorial roles of the editors are suspended and the referee process is not seen, so double-blind refereeing is preserved. 

The peer-review process is central to the success of scientific publication. It is part of our commitment to protect and improve the peer-review process, and Selcuk University Journal of Social Sciences Institute has an obligation to assist the scientific community in all publishing ethics-related situations, especially in case of questionable, duplicate publications or plagiarism.
When the reader notices an important error or mistake in a published article or has any complaints about the editorial content (plagiarism, duplicate articles, etc.), they can make a complaint by sending an e-mail to susbed@selcuk.edu.tr. We welcome complaints as they will provide an opportunity for us to improve, and we aim to respond quickly and constructively.

5-Revealing Plagiarism
Articles submitted for publication in the Journal of Selcuk University Institute of Social Sciences are subject to blind peer-review evaluation by at least two referees. In addition, the authors have to upload the report that the articles do not contain plagiarism to the system through the programs used in plagiarism detection.
