This quantitative study discussed the development of the performance of employees in the special education departments in the light of the strategic planning approach. It aimed to: Determine the reality of strategic planning in the special education departments in the education directorates. And the extent to which there are statistically significant differences due to the variables: gender, experience, and educational qualification. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method. The study population consisted of (123) heads of special education departments and supervisors of integration, learning difficulties, and speech and language disorders. As for the study sample, it included an intentional comprehensive sample of all members of the original community. The questionnaire was designed as a main tool for data collection; It consisted of (67) phrases distributed in six areas. Statistical treatments: descriptive analysis. Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The t-test to find out the differences according to the gender variable. One-way analysis of variance to measure the differences between variables. The most important results of the study were: The reality of strategic planning for the performance of workers in the departments of special education was between high and average. It ranked highly in the first and second ranks: the axis of numbers for planning, the axis of providing strategic planning requirements, and the axis of follow-up and evaluation came third with a medium degree. And ranked last in the environmental analysis of the institution, with an average rating. There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (0.05) between males and females in favor of males. There are no significant differences according to the variables of educational qualification and years of experience.
