MEASURING STUDENTS' LEVEL OF SATISFACTION WITH ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCES IN THE LIGHT OF SOME VARIABLES: A COMPARATIVE STUDY IN OMANI PUBLIC AND PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES

Abstract

The study aimed to measure the level of students' satisfaction with academic and administrative experiences in public and private universities in the Sultanate of Oman. Finding statistically significant differences between the study sample members regarding the degree of students' satisfaction according to the variables of gender and specialization, and according to the variable of public and private universities. The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach. The study population consisted of all students of the final year at Sultan Qaboos University, Sohar Universities, and Al Buraimi Private Universities, numbering (5718). The study sample was selected in a stratified random manner, according to the schedule of Christie and Morgan (1970) from all faculties in the three universities, with a total of (855). A questionnaire was prepared consisting of (69) statements distributed in (7) axes. Statistical methods: descriptive analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, one-way ANOVA, t-test, Scheffe test. Linear Correlation Coefficients (Pearson) Correlation Calculation. The study findings revealed that: The degree of satisfaction with the axis of learning resources and communication technology was high, while the rest of the six axes, the degree of satisfaction was medium. There are no statistically significant differences according to the gender variable in all aspects of the study, except for the first axis, administrative services; the differences were in favor of the female students. As for the impact of the university on the students' degree of satisfaction; Al-Buraimi University came first, followed by Sultan Qaboos University, and then Sohar University.
